Travis Petersen is a native of Canada’s West Coast, born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. After 15 years in sales and marketing, a dream career in the culinary world opened up and in 2016, after a brief appearance on CTV’s “Masterchef Canada,” Travis would leave the oil and gas industry to start The Nomad Cook, a private chef business that originally focused on cross-country Pop Up dinners and In-home private dining.
In 2018, the company changed its focus towards an emerging new sector in the Canadian market: the cannabis industry. Over a 16-month period, Travis would serve over 3,000 Canadians their first Infused dining experience and become recognized as the country’s leading cannabis chef. 2019 would bring collaborations with companies like Sundial, Canopy Growth and Aurora, along with international media attention from the U.S., U.K. and Australia.
Travis is focused on helping to end the stigma associated with culinary cannabis, by bringing cannabis chefs together from all over North America. His goal is to help to create an industry standard for techniques, terminology and safety procedures, and to help guide chefs towards accurate and responsible dosing. Canada is in a position to be the leader in the culinary cannabis space, and Travis wants to make sure that Canadians seize the opportunity while the window is still open.
